Event

TICAH V – Spouses of African Heads of State Symposium- Tokyo, Japan

African First ladies participated in an International Symposium on HIV and AIDS held on June 01, 2013 as part of the ongoing 5th Tokyo International Conference on African Development in Yokohama, Japan.

12th Extraordinary General Assembly

The 12th Extraordinary General Assembly took place in the afternoon of May 26, 2013; the Steering Committee meeting also took place earlier that day. In addition, prior to the General Assembly, Technical Advisors meeting took place from May 23-24, 2013.

Agreement signed with IPPFAR

OAFLA signed an agreement with the International Planned Parenthood Africa Region (IPPFAR) at a ceremony held at the OAFLA Secretariat Office. The agreement was signed by H.E Mrs Penehupifo Pohamba, President of OAFLA and First Lady of the Republic of Namibia and Mr Lucien Kouassi Kouakou Africa Region Director.

Initiated by Mr Ted Alemayehu, Founder and Chairman of US Doctors for Africa (USDA) The First Ever- African First Ladies Economic forum was made public at a press conference held at the Organization of African First Ladies against HIV/AIDS (OAFLA) Secretariat in Addis Ababa

Launch of OAFLA Directory 2013/ 2014

Organization of African First Ladies against HIV/AIDS (OAFLA) Secretariat in Addis Ababa in collaboration with the UNFPA launched the second OAFLA Directory 2013-2014. The ceremony took place at the Hilton Hotel in Addis Ababa as one of the side events celebrating the OAU/ AU 50th Anniversary, under the theme ‘Celebrating 50 years of pan- African Women’ to honor of African women who have contributed to the African Renaissance.
